Pork & Co. has got to be one the best place to eat in Canterbury for pulled pork lovers. Or any meat lover, actually. (Don’t worry veggies; there are options for you too, so Pork & Co. hasn’t left you out.)
Canterbury restaurants are thriving and with so many, it can make the most determined diners feel a little indecisive. But there’s a number of restaurants I find myself popping in and out of regularly. Pork & Co. is obviously one of them.
Starting out with humble beginnings, it was solely a take-out spot in Sun Street (if my memory serves me right, or was there a street food van first?), but it’s now expanded into a fully blown sit down restaurant. (I believe Pork & Co. delivery is even a thing now too, you lucky Canterburians.)
What’s on the menu?
Pork, pork and more pulled pork. I always go for the same though, and that’s the winning Pork Roll (pulled pork in a demi brioche roll). There’s a choice of sauces and slaws you can pick to go with this, but again I rarely change my order and typically go for the apple butter and beetroot slaw. Finally, a side of fries or salad can be accompanied with this. (I’m fries ’til I die.)
On this occasion my mum joined me and uncharacteristically opted for something different. (Shocker!) She went for the Meaty Chips, which is basically chips topped with pulled pork and a choice of sauce and slaw.
So what’s the pull? (Excuse the pun…) Pork & Co. pride themselves on making everything from scratch. Meaning they bake all of their bread, smoke and cure all of their free-range Kentish Pork. Oh and it tastes bloody good.
I’ve mentioned Pork & Co. delivery and the fact you can sit down and eat, but I’ve failed to say you can also take away too. This is probably a good option to scurry away to a quiet spot on a busy Saturday in Canterbury to enjoy your pulled pork in peace.
